Jason Calacanis’ Bleak Bitcoin Prediction Draws $3M in Rival Bets—but He Won’t Bite

Fred Krueger Offers $1 Million on Bitcoin’s Future

Bitcoin investor Fred Krueger challenged technology investor Jason Calacanis to a $1 million wager after the All-In podcast co-host declared bitcoin would never establish another all-time high. Krueger opened his challenge by repeating Calacanis’ prediction, “Bitcoin will never break its all-time high again,” before firing back, “Jason, I’ll bet you $1,000,000 that you’re wrong.”

His proposal gives bitcoin until Oct. 28, 2036, to exceed $126,210.50, its October 2025 peak. Both participants would deposit $1 million into independent escrow, using a mutually agreed custodian and objective price oracle. Krueger spelled out the financial stakes: “If bitcoin does, I win $1 million. If it doesn’t, you win $1 million.” The wager would settle immediately upon a new record or expire after 10 years.

Krueger concluded his challenge with a pointed reminder of Calacanis’ sweeping prediction. “No excuses. No moving the goalposts. You said NEVER. I’m giving you just 10 years. Do we have a bet?” The proposal effectively asks Calacanis to put a seven-figure sum behind his conviction that bitcoin’s record-setting days are permanently over.

Calacanis Wants a 12-Month Wager Instead

Calacanis responded with a considerably shorter proposition, writing, “Propose next 12 month bet”. That response drew fire from observers who questioned why someone predicting bitcoin would never reclaim its peak would restrict the wager to a single year. One critic remarked, “Goal posts immediately moved,” while another was less charitable, responding, “So your statement was complete bullsh** then.”

Calacanis’ latest forecast claims that bitcoin could revisit $57,000 within 12 months, citing exchange-traded fund (ETF) outflows and competition from artificial intelligence (AI) investments. His prediction of a permanent ceiling, however, extends well beyond that near-term bearish forecast, creating a distinction between his original declaration and the narrower wager he appears willing to entertain.

Grant Cardone Offers a Second Million-Dollar Challenge

Alongside Krueger, BTC proponent Grant Cardone entered the fray with another $1 million proposition, this time allowing bitcoin just two years to reclaim its record. Like Krueger, Cardone repeated Calacanis’ declaration, “Bitcoin will never break its all-time high again,” before issuing his own offer: “Jason, I’ll bet you $1,000,000 it will break its ATH.”

Cardone specified the terms, writing, “Bitcoin hits or exceeds $126,210.50 on or before October 28, 2028, 12PM PST”. He also offered flexible payment arrangements, stating, “I’m happy to trust you to pay or if you prefer we can each escrow the dollars with independent party.” He added, “The bet is either settled when bitcoin hits the ATH or on October 28, 2028,” before asking, “Jason do we have a bet?”

Hollywood Producer Terence Michael Ups the Ante

After Cardone’s offer, Terence Michael, a Hollywood producer turned bitcoin educator, added another $1 million to the table. “Hey Jason … want an easy $3 million? I agree to the same terms as Grant just offered you (below). Add [Fred Krueger’s] original bet to the mix and you have $3M saying ‘bitcoin is dead’ is free. Let’s see if you have conviction,” Michael wrote, sharing Cardone’s X post.

At the time of writing at 2:55 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, Calacanis had not responded to Cardone’s or Michael’s challenge. Three investors have now offered seven-figure wagers against the same prediction, with deadlines eight years apart.

The lingering contradiction is difficult to ignore: declaring bitcoin will never reach another record is one proposition, but betting it won’t happen within the next 12 months is an entirely different one.
